In May 2020, Autumn Hendrickson, then a nearly-graduated high school senior began trying to figure out what she was going to write for her new job with the local digital newspaper during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Why don’t I take people back in time?” she asked. Thus began her journey to find the boys and girls of Reading & North Reading that served in World War II. Hendrickson is currently a full-time college student, but is still striving towards her goal to create some sort of physical or digital text in which to tell the stories of the 800+ individuals she has found.
